2015 Ford F-150: What to Expect

As the best selling vehicle in the U.S. for the past 30 years, the F-150 garners a lot of attention each model year.  Considered Ford’s bread and butter, they have been reluctant to tinker too much with their golden goose.  In the past, Ford would make a minor change or two, and then proclaim the arrival of the “New F-150.”  However, for the 2015 model, Ford went “all in” and pushed their chips to the center of the table.  When it arrives at Bloomington Ford, later this fall, we will be setting our eyes on a true F-150 redesign.

Watching Its Weight

In a radical departure from industry standards, Ford is breaking new ground by replacing the F-150’s steel cab and bed with lightweight aluminum.  Also subject to the chopping block is the fully boxed steel frame.  The mixture of high-strength steel more than tripled, from the current 23 percent to an astounding 77 percent.  Ford claims that even though this new frame is lighter, it is stronger and more rigid.  After these modifications, the 2015 F-150 will come in around 700 pounds lighter than the 2014 model.

From Concept to Realty

In terms of styling, the new F-150 has taken a number of design cues from the highly acclaimed Atlas concept truck, which debuted at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.  It may be slightly toned down, but the resemblance is undeniable.

Remixed Engine Lineup

With the reduced weight comes a retooling of the F-150’s quad-engine lineup.  The base V-6 has been reduced from 3.7 liters to 3.5 liters.  The new 5.0-liter V-8, nicknamed “Coyote,” will replace the older 6.2-liter V-8.  The EcoBoost 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 stands pat and remains part of the lineup.  Finally, Ford is introducing a new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6.

2014 Ford Fiesta ST Gets the Party Started

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our daily lives that we look at driving as a chore.  Words such as boring, tedious, and time-consuming come to mind.  This needs to be remedied.

Remember when you first got your driver’s license and every moment behind the wheel was filled with unabashed joy?  If you don’t, then you need to take the proverbial smelling salt that is the Ford Fiesta ST.  To do this, head over to Bloomington Ford — one of the top Ford car dealerships in Indianapolis.

The 411

The Ford Fiesta ST is a high-performance subcompact car that will channel your inner racer.  The ST comes as a 4-door hatchback and oozes with amenities.

Brass Tax

Let’s focus on the Fiesta ST’s fun factor — horsepower.  How does a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 197 hp sound?  Pretty good, I bet.  To get you through the gears, you can either opt for the standard 5-speed manual transmission, or upgrade to the six-speed automated manual “PowerShift” transmission.  Either way, buckle up, because the ST gets out of the blocks faster than Usain Bolt.  There’s no shame in flaunting its best-in-class 0-60 time of 7.1 seconds.  You’re here to relearn the joy of driving.

Taking A Spin

Even though the Fiesta ST has a lot going for it under the hood, it’s not a one-trick pony.  This little panther handles like a champ in any driving conditions.  The optional Recaro sport seats nestle you inside a chic and upscale interior.  As you drive, the responsive steering becomes an extension of your will.  The Fiesta’s finely tuned suspension will handle cornering with precision, and then ask for a real challenge.  The options are endless, and only limited by your imagination.

Make It Happen

Get up and get out on the open road.  Test drive a Fiesta ST, and remember — it’s okay to have fun!
