Some people are die-hard Mustang fans, and there is nothing that will convince them that there is anything better than their “pony.” Others may not see what all the fuss is about until they venture into one of the Bloomington car dealerships and take a test drive. Whether the results of the first part of 2015 are from new Ford fans or old faithful Mustang drivers, the numbers don’t lie. The 2015 Ford Mustang is the world’s best-selling sports car for the first 6 months of the year. Note that this is a worldwide figure, not just American sales, which is very impressive, and this knocked the Chevy Camaro out of the top slot in the U.S.
This information comes from IHS Automotive global registration data and marks the first year that the Mustang has been available in more than 100 markets around the world. We all know the joy of driving American steel, and we’ve all seen the movies about American muscle cars back in the day. Thanks to amazing technology and design, the new Mustang has all the power and style that you’ve come to expect from the past version, and all the features and handling that you would want for modern driving.
Right Hand Drive
As part of this momentous year, Ford has also begun production on the right-hand-drive Mustang at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan. This will be the first year that a right-hand-drive model will be widely available. Plans are for the right-hand-drive model to be released in more than 25 markets around the world.
Looking at the Numbers
During the first six months of this year, January through June 2015, there were 76,124 Mustangs registered globally. This is a huge increase over the first six months of 2014; a 56% increase, to be exact. Word of mouth, car shows, and people who had been waiting impatiently for Ford to stop making throwback Mustangs and combine the best of the past with the best of today were ready for the 2015 Mustang to hit the market. Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, Sales and Service, Stephen Odell said, “Initial global response to the Mustang has been strong, and we are only in second gear. We continue accelerating production and global reach with right-hand-drive models now coming out of the plant.”
Style around the Globe
While everyone has their own preference for their Mustang, there are certain colors that are taking precedence in each market. In the U.S. and the Middle East, Black is the top-selling color. In Europe they are loving Magnetic Grey and Race Red. The Chinese are rocking Race Red and Black on their Mustangs.
Bloomington car dealerships are ready to get you set up in a brand new 2015 Mustang. Whether you are a long-time fan of letting the ponies run or just getting your feet wet in the world of American sports cars, a Mustang is the way to go. There is no better thrill than pressing the accelerator and hearing that lovely roar!
