Ford Gives Red Cross New Emergency Vehicles

Bedford Ford is very proud to be a part of the Ford family and to announce the results of the Red Cross Ford partnership this year. Helping others is the main focus of the Red Cross, and Ford Motor Company is helping them achieve that goal. Ford is a member of the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program and has worked with the Red Cross for more than 30 years. This year the Ford Motor Company Fund has made yet another helpful donation to the program in the form of five new Transit vans for the Red Cross fleet.

The Ford motto, “Built Ford Tough,” pertains to more than the vehicles they produce. This company has been through ups and downs, yet has always managed to continue to give back to the communities and the people who make the company successful through their loyalty and purchases.

Ford and Red Cross Partnership

Five locations in the U.S. have received new Ford Transit high-roof vans featuring 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 engines. Red Cross facilities in Detroit, Michigan; Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky; Cleveland, Ohio; and Portland, Oregon are now able to utilize these new vehicles for their services. Everything from single family house fires to tornado and hurricane response falls into the Red Cross’ lap, meaning that they need to be ready at a moment’s notice with a full arsenal of vehicles and supplies.

The Red Cross annually responds to about 70,000 disasters through their five lines of service, including:

  • Disaster Relief
  • Health and Safety Training and Education
  • Services to the Armed Forces
  • International Services
  • Lifesaving Blood Services

Ford offers assistance to all of these lines of Red Cross service. Besides giving these new Ford Transit vehicles to the Red Cross, Ford also awards the Ford Blue Oval Scholarships to veterans and families to receive certified training for careers in health care, offers funding for emergency preparedness youth education, and hosts blood drives and collects employee blood donations.

President of the Ford Motor Company Fund and Community services, Jim Vella said, “The American Red Cross is often first on the scene to assist those in need, and these Ford Transit vehicles play an important role in helping them deliver food, water, and medical supplies as quickly as possible. People count on the Red Cross when disaster strikes, and the Red Cross knows it can count on Ford.”

Over the last 5 years, the Ford Motor Company and the Ford Motor Company Fund have donated significant resources to the Red Cross mission, pledging support in advance of major disasters, enabling the Red Cross to respond to emergencies without delay. Just as customers can count on Bedford Ford for quality and friendly service, people in need count on the American Red Cross for relief in disastrous situations. Ford is dedicated to making the world a better place for everyone, and partnering with the Red Cross is just one of the many ways that Ford proves they don’t just give lip service to the idea of service.clip image001 0001
