The NFL has chosen a new official truck—the Ford F-Series truck—as the official truck of the NFL. Back in August, the NFL decided it was time to consider other vehicles for its official vehicles. Due to this decision, Chevrolet’s exclusive deal to be both the preferred car and truck of the NFL is gone.
After careful consideration, the NFL decided to choose Hyundai as the new official NFL car sponsor, leaving the official truck category open. As a result, Ford was able to snatch up this opportunity and score a deal with the NFL.
As part of the new deal, Ford was able to secure their position as the official truck for a three-year period. In addition to this deal with the NFL, Ford secured another sponsorship with its Lincoln brand, which is now the official sponsor vehicle lineup for the Dallas Cowboys, as well as announced a limited-edition F-150 Dallas Cowboys 2016 model.
Ford has wasted no time in taking advantage of its new sponsorship agreement with the NFL. In early September it rolled out “on-demand” tailgating in partnership with Uber in New York City. People can use their Uber app to order an F-150 to get tailgate food and NFL themed merchandise delivered right to their door and tailgate, while watching the game from the back of the F-150.
Another Uber-partnered opportunity is being able to order a NFL themed truck to drive you to and from games. Ford intends to host these types of services in other cities throughout the country for the entire NFL Season.
Ford is also sponsoring what they are calling the “Built Ford Tough Offensive Line of the Week.” This is a new award where the team with the toughest offensive for the week will be recognized for their achievement by Ford. Each week a team will be selected. At the end of the season, weekly winners will be eligible for the “Built Ford Tough Offensive Line of the Year” award.
For fans, Ford launched a sweepstakes where people can enter to win a brand new 2017 Ford Super Duty truck customized in their favorite NFL team’s color and logos, as well as the opportunity to score tickets to Super Bowl LI.
According to Ford Motor Company’s vice president of U.S. Marketing, Sales, and Service, Mark LaNeve, “Both Ford and the NFL are coming together to give fans exclusive access to games and events, and to highlight outstanding teams, as well as spotlight players and fans who demonstrate determination, toughness, and smarts, both on and off the field.”
